SERIOUS CONTENDERS

The short list for the CWA International Dagger is to be announced on Friday 20 May at Crime Fest in Bristol. Therefore it is time to read some of the serious contenders beginning with Death on a Galician Shore by Domingo Villar.

Cristina came to take their order for the main course. She offered them bacalao a la gallega, cod with potatoes, or squid in its ink with rice. Caldas chose the squid.

A promising start.

Note to myself: remember to add some good food once in a while to win over certain readers ;)

I am afraid I am not good at it, though. I may remember to add sounds, colours, smells, sensations, but rarely cooking. I like EATING good food but donĀ“t care much about how it is produced.

A friend -- who loved Stieg Larsson's books, and who loves good thrillers, is reading The Devil's Star after Nemesis; she doesn't like Star as much, but still likes it.

What did you think?

Kathy-I did like The Devil's Star it was the first Nesbo I read [one of my best reads of 2008] but equally Nemesis was one of my best reads of 2009 and my review reminded me how much I enjoyed it. http://bit.ly/dU07Bp

They are both brilliant, and your friend has the advantage of reading them in the correct order. I read them in the order published. :o(
