AUSSIE AUTHOR CHALLENGE 2011
Part of this Aussie Author Challenge is not to mention the cricket at all, even a little bit. At Adelaide England won by an innings and ....Oops.The challenge is being hosted by Joanne at Book Lover Book Reviews where you can read the rules.
I am tackling this at the Tourist level: read three books by three different Aussie authors.
I have already selected the three books for this challenge:

Deep Water: Peter Corris -joint winner of the 2009 Ned Kelly
Wyatt: Garry Disher-winner of the 2010 Ned Kelly

Welcome to the Aussie Author Challenge! I look forward to reading your reviews of those titles.
It poured with rain, thunder and lightning, the works, late yesterday and overnight - not sure whether in sorrow for the Aussie loss or celebration at the British victory!
Oh? I hadn't heard. About the cricket I mean. It's not like I happen to live within a stone's throw of the pub your Barmy Army called home for the duration of the test here in Adelaide. To give them their due they sing better than Aussie fans - and their songs are a little more imaginative than our Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi Oi Oi. And even though it was a pretty ordinary game (from my perspective obviously) a day in the Members stand during test cricket at Adelaide Oval is still one's of life's joys - there's a lot to be said for tradition, Pimms and the sound of willow hitting leather.
As for the challenge - enjoy. Gunshot Road is my favourite book of this year (I know there are still more books to read but I can't see any of my proposed reads being that good). I shall be particularly interested to hear your thoughts on Wyatt as I didn't finish it. I don't think it was bad - just not my cup of tea - at least not when I attempted it. I will be signing up for the true blue level of the challenge (well I sort of have to right?)

Kerrie, the lack of fight in this Australian team is a shock to England fans who are used to seeing England collapse on the last morning of Test matches.
Bernadette, Adelaide Oval does look a beautiful place to watch cricket.
I shall look forward to reading Gunshot Road, which I will be using for the Aussie and Global Challenges. I am not sure I can get hold of Wyatt but I have a whole year.
I have missed out on the joys of cricket, being over here across the Atlantic.
Agree that "Gunshot Road," is an amazing and terrific book, beautifully written. One of my top reads for this year.
Read "Blood Moon," by Garry Disher, which was good.
Don't know if I can do the Aussie Challenge, as I'm challenged out and 2011 looks overwhelming on that score.
Will read more Aussie books, that is for sure, especially if Adrian Hyland is writing. And will read more by Peter Temple and Garry Disher.
And want to try some Aussie women authors, too, especially those recommended at the excellent websites situated there.
