MINI QUIZ NUMBER TWO: ENGLISH HOUSES

It is March so it must be time for the next mini quiz in which you can accumulate points towards winning a Grand Prize later in the year.
The first mini quiz was about Sweden's five minority languages and the five winners came from Denmark, New Mexico, Texas, Virginia and Wales.

This quiz is about English houses and homes and the people who lived and worked in them:

An example, Chartwell is the home of Sir Winston Churchill, and would be associated with his historical writing and politics.

Who and what are associated with:

1] Kelmscott Manor
2] Greenway
3] Hughenden Manor
4] Lacock Abbey

Answers to thbear08@googlemail.com please.

There are at least three answers to number 4. These involve a famous window, a wizard, and a single man in want of a wife!

A famous window?? A window on the world?
A wizard yes. Although I did not have that in mind when I set the question.
But a "single" man, Peter I think whether he was single was the subject of some argument concerning his dead brother.

Stop embarrassing a younger man with questions he can't answer. (I happen to know about Lacock Abbey because I visited the village with a guide who explained its place in history and recent culture. Will you award a quarter-prize if I answer just one of the questions?)

This is a marathon Peter with 8 more monthly questions after this one so quarter marks are awarded.

I feel like my poor, confused students when I have challenged them with something really daunting ;O
But if Peter can have quarter marks, I may also risk my neck on this one.

I am certain your students are much more confused, almost as confused as I am when faced by your teasers. ;o)

Have a go Dorte, before I close this MiniQuiz number two on Wednesday.
I will have a one off quiz next week to win a signed copy of A Trace of Smoke.
