A few comments and thoughts about crime books set on the mainland of Europe, with titbits about real eurocrime. We hear so much about crime in the USA that many people imagine that Europe is a crime free zone. In crime fiction Europe has become a real challenger to the Americans, but unfortunately real life crime especially in Britain is increasing as well.

SUMMER ON DARTMOOR
One of the most famous prisons in the world may be just up the road, and one the the most scary crime fiction stories ever written was set on Dartmoor, but today it was very pleasant place to be.
We have also had a splendid afternoon, but I am ashamed to admit that I stayed indoors with my computer and my manuscript (my virtual Yorkshire is a favourite spot of mine, but you don´t get much exercise or fresh air that way).
Dorte, Margot and Kathy we don't have a lot of real wilderness in the South of England so we are very lucky to live 25 miles from Princetown [Dartmoor Prison]. There were sheep, ponies, and cattle lazing in the sun yesterday, and not too many people and cars, as some of the schools have gone back after their summer break.
Thanks Kathy, you have given me an idea for a photographic quiz question. ;o)
Oh, thank you for sharing these!
