I am very pleased that my first Euro Crime review of 2009 should be so positive because Darkness Rising by Frank Tallis reviewed here
is a fascinating book. I really enjoyed this book but there is always a bittersweet quality to the Max Liebermann series as we know that much of the intellectual life of Vienna, described with such care in these books, had been destroyed a mere forty years later.
I will be most interested to see what the BBC make of adapting the Max Liebermann books, with their evocative portrait of Vienna in the early 1900s, for television.
